2011 NFL Draft: Washington QB Jake Locker Remains in the Pacific North-West

Pete Carroll Adds a Rookie to Back-Up and Learn From Veteran QB Matt Hasselbeck

Sooner or later you know Matt Hasselbeck will retire. After 13 pro seasons, he only has a few years left and neither J.P. Losman or Charlie Whitehurst is the Seahawks future under center.

Therefore, look to former Washington Husky QB Jake Locker to take over.

The great thing here is that Locker would be a hometown favorite since he is also from the state of Washington.

He'll be a perfect fit for coach Pete Carroll's system and will learn a lot after backing Hasselbeck for a few years.

Interestingly enough though, Seth Kolloen of The Sun Break begins his article of Jake Locker from a business perspective stating,

"Millions of Americans will follow today?s NFL draft, but very few, I suspect, with as much interest as the manager of the Seahawks Pro Shop. For if the Seattle Seahawks choose former Husky star and local deity Jake Locker, the run on Seahawks #10 jerseys will transcend any in the annals of sports-themed apparel retailing. Our redoubtable team shop manager, if he survives the onslaught, will have a story to tell at team shop manager conventions to the end of his days."

And, he is right, because drafting Locker will easily sell more tickets and merchandise. However, the true colors appear when he begins to play and results become the verdict.
