2011 NFL Draft News: Cam Newton, Da'Quan Bowers and More Notes Before Draft Day

NFL draft news and rumors are starting to run rampant.

Until Thursday, when the draft starts, information and misinformation will churn into high gear. Who will go to the Carolina Panthers at No. 1? Who will fall down draft boards leading to juicy greenroom drama? How many quarterbacks will be drafted on the first day? Which untalented speed demon will the Oakland Raiders overdraft?

Cam Newton (QB Auburn) continues to be the hottest name in NFL draft buzz as he is still projected to be the No. 1 draft pick among the media, but draftniks continue to have questions about his pro potential. While Carolina beat writers and even ESPN's Adam Schefter consider Newton to be the pick, draft analysts like PFW's Nolan Nawrocki and NFL's Mike Mayock believe A.J. Green or Marcell Dareus could be the pick.

Da'Quan Bowers (DE Clemson) also is the subject of strenuous debate within the draft community, as both solid information and unsubstantiated rumors have leak out concerning his knee. Bowers' agent and pre-draft trainers say the knee is healthy. However, reports from a medical recheck in Indianapolis hinted that the injury could require microfracture surgery, raising concerns of possible degenerative arthritis.

Stay tuned to Bleacher Report as I run through these and all the latest news and rumors.
