Brandon Vera and Thiago Silva stepped into the cage against one another at UFC 125 this past January. Vera was dismantled by Silva, making it his third straight loss in the Octagon, and as a result, the UFC cut him from his contract.
However, a strange thing happened after the fight. Silva failed his drug urinalysis with the Athletic Commission. That's when the UFC came calling back.
Vera had been sent to the hospital after his match against Silva, due to the severity of the broken nose he sustained during the fight. He stated that he told his coach in the hospital that he distinctly remembered Silva being extremely strong, and it was something that he had not experienced against anyone before.
