Opponents better start picking up Jimmer at the mid-court line

What's most amazing about this deep ball from BYU's Jimmer Fredette Tuesday night is that it didn't come at the end of a half or as the shot clock expired.

Fredette recognized that TCU defenders weren't going to pick him until he got closer to the three-point line and he had the confidence to pull up and fire from at least 30 feet. Naturally, the BYU star buried the shot, providing the signature highlight from an otherwise pedestrian 21-point performance in an 83-67 thrashing of the overmatched Horned Frogs.

"I think I can make shots from out there," Fredette told the Deseret News. "If they're not going to guard me, I'm going to take that shot because they'll have to defend me, and that opens it up to get the ball to the other guys."

Let that be a warning to the rest of the Mountain West. If you don't pick up Jimmer from the mid-court line, he's liable to pull up and shoot again.
