Maurkice Pouncey Out of Super Bowl, Teammate Says

Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey, who earned a Pro Bowl nod after a spectacular rookie season, will not play in the Super Bowl against the Packers, Pittsburgh offensive lineman Chris Kemoeatu told reporters Wednesday.

"We are definitely sad that he won't be able to be with us in the Super Bowl," Kemoeatu said, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "Definitely I feel bad for him. We just have to win it for him."

Pouncey started all 16 regular-season games for the Steelers this year, but suffered a high-ankle sprain during the team's AFC conference-title game win over the Jets. Pittsburgh held out hope that Pouncey would be able to go in Super Bowl XLV with nearly two weeks to recover -- and he still may -- but Kemoeatu said that the Steelers are preparing to play without him.
