2011 NBA Mock Draft: Complete 1st-Round Mock, Will Cavaliers Pick a Scorer?

2011 NBA Mock Draft: Who Will the Cavaliers Select in the 2011 NBA Draft?

2011 NBA Mock Drafts will become much clearer after Tuesday?s NBA Draft Lottery. One bounce of a ping pong ball could be the difference between an instant rise back to playoff form or an extended stay in the division cellar. Does your team get Kyrie Irving or Derrick Williams or are they left trying to find the hidden star in the lottery? Bleacher Report has the latest NBA Mock Draft picks, including projections before and after the lottery.

The second lottery pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers comes via the Baron Davis trade with the Los Angeles Clippers. With their first pick I have the Cavs drafting a scoring forward, and with their second lottery pick I see Cleveland selecting another scorer.

Cleveland struggled to put points on the board. They ranked 25th in the league in scoring, which means this draft needs to be focused on guys who excel at knocking down their shots.

No player on the Cavs this past season averaged more than 20 points per game. While a rookie may or may not accomplish this, it will be good to upgrade the shooting guard position with someone that can score more than seven or eight points per game.

Alec Burks of Colorado may be a bit of a reach here, but he fills a big time need for the Cavs. Burks could use help on his jumper, but his ability to penetrate and create his own shot is very good. The 6'6" 195 pound guard will add some extra weight once he joins the NBA.

Since LeBron James took his talents to South Beach Cleveland lost the ability to score with ease. Drafting Burks here will help this team get on the right track.
