NFL Draft 2011: Latest New York Giants Rumors, News and Speculation

By now, most agree the New York Giants will target an offensive lineman. All the news, predictions and rumors have pointed to that position being addressed.

You've got to think that the team may have tipped its hand even a while back at the owner's meetings when Giants coach Tom Coughlin openly stated that center is a position that needs to be improved.

That's why many have connected Florida's Mike Pouncey with the Giants, which makes sense with the 19th pick, but now there could be some more intrigue here after Pouncey tweeted that he would be shocked if he didn't wind up in Dallas next year.

Truth to that, or just a player spouting off and being silly?

I could see both sides, but I think we also know by now that drafting a linebacker with their first pick would make zero sense. It is another position of need, but there isn't an elite level player worthy of being taken that high.

What will be interesting to watch with the Giants is who they target after the first round.

I thought there was some merit to the idea of drafting another running back possibly in the later rounds, and think it will be tough to decide whether or not to get an extra wide receiver in case Steve Smith isn't back to 100 percent.

That could change, too, if the team decides to go after former wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who will soon be released from jail.

The pressure's on, though, because two other division rivals—Dallas and Washington—have top 10 picks and there are rumors of Philadelphia potentially trading up to get Buffalo's No. 3 pick.

There's lots to still follow, chew on and discuss in the coming weeks, so feel free to chime in. I'll keep trying to find as much news, rumors and speculation as I can.

I may also add in some more videos as well just to provide you with extra footage of available players.

New York and general manager Jerry Reese (pictured) has always done a solid job with the draft, especially finding quality players in the middle to late rounds. It will be interesting I think to see who they go with this year.

Until then, feel free to call your shots and toss out your opinions.
