Apparently the secret to Texas A&M's amazing run to the women's national championship is… wait for it… the Dougie.
That's right, the dance craze that's been sweeping the nation kicked off the Aggies basketball season at midnight madness and concluded with a Dougie dance prior to receiving the national championship trophy.
Back in October, as both the men's and women's basketball teams celebrated their season tipoff, Texas A&M president Dr. R. Bowen Loftin couldn't bear to watch the student-athletes getting their groove on without showing off some of his own moves. He did his imitation of the Dougie to the delight of both teams and apparently inspired women's basketball coach Gary Blair to finish the season with the same tradition on stage at the national championship Tuesday.
When the women's basketball team returned to College Station, Texas to celebrate their championship win over Notre Dame with their fans, Blair and Loftin brought the whole thing full circle.
