Manny Pacquiao: Why It's Time to Ditch Dreams of Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Bout

Manny Pacquiao is never fighting Floyd Mayweather

The fight everyone wants to see is no closer to happening then is my entrance into the world of professional boxing. While my family rejoices at my decision to not die in a boxing ring, the world of boxing should be sad that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are never going to go toe to toe.

No, there?s no official word, but the longer it goes without a fight the less likely it is to happen.

It?s a shame too because what boxing needs is the fight of all fights. It?s been a long time since boxing has had a top notch fight. These days the pay per views seem to be dominated by MMA and their talented collection of fighters.

There are those that believe MMA is the wave of the future and that boxing is dead. I think it?s dead because there aren?t fights like this happening to pique the interest of casual fans.

Sure, it?s the obligation of either fighter to have to risk health and harm to give the sport of boost but for all the good that boxing has done them it would be nice to see them step up and take charge.

However, if you are looking to assign blame, and I?m always looking to do that, I?d put money on Money. Mayweather had his reservations, but Pacquiao met his requests with reasonable compromises. I think it comes down to Mayweather not wanting to take a hit to his flawless reputation as a fighter. However, he should know that he?s hurting his reputation by trying to protect it.

The stakes won?t get any higher, the hype bigger and the purse fatter than it has gotten. If these guys can?t find a way to get it done now. It?s never going to happen. Losing out on this fight might be a blow too big for boxing to take.
