Apparently, the unifying power of Ryan and the common goal of reaching and winning the Super Bowl were underestimated.
Running back LaDainian Tomlinson, wide receiver Santonio Holmes, outside linebacker Jason Taylor and cornerback Antonio Cromartie all willingly donned the Gang Green during the offseason after being strongly identified with other AFC teams for so long. Tomlinson and Cromartie cut their teeth with the San Diego Chargers, Holmes with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Taylor with the Miami Dolphins.
Wide receiver Braylon Edwards also can be lumped into this group after joining the Jets midway through last season via trade from the Cleveland Browns. He and Holmes, both sharing checkered pasts with their previous employers, found a way to co-exist in the huddle and provide second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez with two Pro Bowl-caliber targets in the passing game.
