AFC Championship Game: Can Steelers Clamp Down on Surging Jets?
The New York Jets are heading for a big collision against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend for the AFC Championship Game.
In their last two games, the Jets have found a way to defeat their opponents. Against the Colts, they controlled the clock and ran the ball against their weak run defense. Against the Patriots, they were able to put up points against their soft secondary.
This weekend against the Steelers, what strategy can they employ? Well, Rex Ryan isn't even making this battle personal. Instead, he's counting on the fact that his team can be self-motivated because they're only one game away from the Super Bowl.
The Steelers are clearly a tough matchup for them. Against the run, they rank No. 1 in the NFL. Against the pass, they rank No. 1 with only 15 touchdowns allowed all season long.
If the Jets were looking to exploit the Steelers by finding cracks in their defense, they may never find one.
The only chance they have is getting steller play from their own defense in helping contain Ben Roethlisberger and company. As for their offense, Mark Sanchez will need to find a way to succeed against the Steelers' tough secondary led by Troy Polamalu.
Yes. This game will likely fall towards the Steelers' favor.
