Mike Leach Could be Next at Maryland

When the University of Maryland gets around to making Ralph Friedgen's "retirement" official -- perhaps as soon as Monday -- don't expect the job to stay open long.

Orangebloods.com is reporting that former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach will replace Friedgen.

This is the same website that did very well reporting news about conference expansion over the summer, so its report on Leach should be taken seriously.

Leach was dismissed at Texas Tech last season after a well-publicized incident involved receiver Adam James, son of television analyst Craig James. Leach allegedly ordered James into an equipment closet when he complained about effects of a concussion. Leach is currently suing Texas Tech for wrongful termination.

Leach coached at Texas Tech from 2000-2009 and posted an 84-43 record.
