Brian Daboll Reportedly Hired as Dolphins Offensive Coordinator

Brian DabollWith an edict handed down from owner Steve Ross that it's time to implement a more explosive and big-play offense, the Dolphins have reportedly taken a branch from the Bill Belichick coaching tree by hiring former Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to take the same position in Miami.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen cited team sources as confirming the hire Monday but no official announcement has been made yet by the Dolphins. If the reports are true, Daboll, 35, will succeed veteran Dan Henning, 67, and will be tasked with turning around an offense that finished in the bottom third in almost every category in 2010.

Daboll, who was the quarterbacks coach for the New York Jets under then-head coach Eric Mangini before following Mangini to Cleveland, actually got his start as a graduate assistant under former Dolphins head coach Nick Saban at Michigan State from 1998-99. His most valuable experience came under Belichick from 2001-06 as the team's wide receivers coach, earning three Super Bowl rings during that stretch.
