2011 Michigan Wolverines: Tate Forcier Follows Rich Rodriguez Out The Door

On the day that Michigan A.D. Dave Brandon announced the hiring of former San Diego State and Ball State coach Brady Hoke as the 19th head coach in the storied history of the Michigan football program, he also announced that sophomore quarterback Tate Forcier is no longer with the football team.

Forcier, who was academically ineligible for Michigan's bowl game—a 52-14 drubbing at the hands of Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl.

The Detroit News reported that Forcier will meet with school officials in an attempt to be academically reinstated to the university. It is not clear whether he will rejoin the football program if and when he is readmitted to the University of Michigan.

Forcier was the starting quarterback for the Wolverines in 2009, and he backed up fellow sophomore Denard Robinson last season. In 20 games for the Maize and Blue, Forcier threw for 2,647 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also ran for 291 yards and four touchdowns.
