Duke-bound Austin Rivers held off future Kentucky star Anthony Davis for the top spot in the final Rivals.com rankings for the class of 2011. Click here for the full 2011 Rivals150 or read below for a slightly different breakdown of the data:
? Schools that signed the most top 150 players: 1. St. John's (6), T2. Duke (5), Arkansas (5) T4. Kentucky (4), Louisville (4), Arizona (4), Illinois (4), Ohio State (4), Texas (4), Rutgers (4)
Comment: It's a testament to how mediocre Arkansas was under John Pelphrey that signing five top 150 players in the class of 2011 wasn't enough for him to keep his job. Credit new Arkansas coach Mike Anderson for holding on to each member of that highly touted recruiting class once he arrived.
? Conferences that signed the most top 150 players: 1. Big East (32), 2. SEC (26), 3. ACC (22), 4. Big Ten (18), T5. Pac-12 (14), Big 12 (14)
Comment: An amazing 126 of 146 signed members of the top 150 are headed to programs in BCS leagues, a discrepancy that can be explained one of two ways. One is that the top players largely sign with elite programs from the most competitive and visible leagues. The other is that those who do the rankings may be influenced when prospects sign with high-profile programs.
? Non-BCS conferences that signed the most top 150 players: 1. Conference USA (5), 2. Atlantic 10 (4), 3. Sun Belt (3), 4. Mountain West (2)
Comment: The highest-ranked player headed to a non-BCS program is No. 17 Adonis Thomas, a Memphis native who will play for his hometown Tigers. Close behind him is No. 28 Adjehi Baru, a center who spurned numerous larger programs and will instead play for College of Charleston.
? Non-BCS conference schools that signed the most top 150 players: 1. Xavier (3), T2. Central Florida (2), Western Kentucky (2)
Comment: Unlike this season when Xavier typically utilized a six-man rotation, the Musketeers will not lack depth next year. Coach Chris Mack landed a strong recruiting class highlighted by high-flying wing Dezmine Wells, a 6-foot-4 Raleigh, N.C. native who checks in at No. 76 in the final rankings.
? States that produced the most top 150 players: 1. Texas (12), 2. Illinois (10), T3. North Carolina (9), California (9), T5. Georgia (7), New Jersey (7)
Comment: There aren't a lot of surprises here. The states that produced the most talent this year are either among the largest population-wise or have a reputation for strong high school basketball or both.
