NBA Trade Rumors: Is Carmelo Anthony a Realistic Catch for the Clippers?

NBA Trade Rumors: Could The Clippers Grab Carmelo Anthony From the Nuggets?

One dark horse candidate in the Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes is the Los Angeles Clippers. Teaming Anthony with the young Clips roster could really transform the team into actual playoff contenders.

While a trade is somewhat unlikely because of the fact that the Clippers might not have enough to pry Anthony out of Denver, if a deal was sweetened with some expiring contracts and draft picks, it seems like they could put together an attractive package.

I understand Carmelo wants to go to a team that is already in contention, but the Clippers are truly an up and coming teams. Sure they just gave the Cavaliers their first win since mid December, but they have a couple of the most exciting young players in the league and they could be in the playoffs as soon as next year.

Apparently the Clippers have already called the Nuggets not only about Carmelo but they have also asked about Chauncey Billups.

So while I understand the Nuggets aren?t going to get back exactly what they are hoping for, but what about this as a trade proposel:

The Clippers get:

Carmelo Anthony

Chauncey Billups

The Nuggets get:

Chris Kaman

Al-Farouq Aminu

Baron Davis

Rasual Butler

Brian Cook

Two first round picks

Two second round picks

Would Denver turn that down?

They get a good young small forward to build around in Aminu, a lead point guard in Davis, two expiring contracts in Butler and Cook, plus Kaman who is an underrated player, and a rash of draft picks to help rebuild.

Meanwhile, the Clippers get Billups who would be able to teach the Clippers young point guards how to run a team and they get Anthony as a legitimate stud to play next to Blake Griffin. That team would be a juggernaut.
