Xtreme Couture posted a welcome back message on Team Couture's Official blog on Wednesday.
The post simply stated: "Xtreme Couture would like to welcome back Gina Carano. Gina spent the morning training with Gil Martinez. We expect to see a lot more of Gina here training in 2011."
Carano has not had a professional mixed martial arts bout since August 2009 when she fought Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos for the vacant Strikeforce women's middleweight championship. Santos easily dispatched Carano with a TKO victory in the first round.
As of late, Carano has been pursuing a film career. She is currently wrapping up shooting on Steven Soderbergh's upcoming film "Haywire." In the film, Carano stars as a black ops solider who is betrayed during a mission, she survives and then seeks revenge on those that betrayed her.
Some other actors that will be in the film include Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor and Bill Paxton.
Earlier in January, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker told "The MMA Hour" radio show, "I believe she'll be back in the cage this year," Coker opined.
"From what I know of her, she is a competitor at heart; she's going to want to fight. She's not going to want to end her career the way it ended. So, I think she'll be back."
While her return to Xtreme Couture does not indicate that she is returning to MMA, it most likely indicates a step in that direction.
