Clowney: Jadeveon Clowney Gives South Carolina a Valentine's Day Gift

Jadeveon Clowney Commits to South Carolina on Valentine's Day.

Jadeveon Clowney undoubtedly broke some fans' hearts on Valentine's Day after committing to South Carolina, but he also will be getting a lot of love from Gamecocks fans in the coming months.

Clowney, a highly-regarded defensive end prospect considered by many to be the No. 1 prospect in the country, decided to stay at home after everything was settled, continuing to the Gamecocks after starring at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, SC.

The 6-foot-6, 250-pounder had a marvelous high school season in 2010, collecting 162 tackles, 29.5 sacks, causing 11 fumbles and scoring five defensive touchdowns (ya, that's in one season's worth).

He announced his decision live on ESPN today.

Clowney said he was contemplating between South Carolina, Clemson, and Alabama.

The Gamecocks, who didn't land any of the huge names on the offensive side of the ball on National Signing Day on Feb. 2, definitely have improved their defense with Clowney, who could wreak havoc in college.

Clowney waited a full 12 days after National Signing Day to finally commit, but noted he knew he made the right choice joining the Gamecocks.

Coach Steve Spurrier has got to be licking his chops, just imaging what Clowney can do for the team next season.

Somewhere Alabama coach Nick Saban cries.
