Houston Cougars' Alandise Harris Named C-USA Freshman of the Week

University of Houston basketball player Alandise Harris has been selected by Conference USA as the Freshman of the Week ending Jan. 17.

Harris helped lead the Cougars to their first road win of 2011. He recorded the second double-double of his career with a career-best 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Making his fourth consecutive start at SMU, Harris also set a career best with 37 minutes played.

He was 7-for-8 from the free-throw line, and buried both free-throw attempts to give the Cougars a three-point cushion with 13 seconds left.

This is the first C-USA Freshman of the Week honor for Harris.

Harris has played in 13 games for the Cougars this season, starting in three, and is averaging 8.2 points per game. He also has 13 blocked shots and three steals for the season.
